Happy Home Trust - India project

The Happy Home project was founded in the heart of the Anantapur district to provide a safe and dignified refuge for orphaned or abandoned children. With the help of volunteers and donors, Opera San Giuseppe supports the development of girls and boys by offering them a home, education, and hope for the future.

The origins of the project

In 2018, some land was purchased in Anantapur thanks to the efforts of local advocate Ranjeeta Devi. The construction of the first family home was soon started, welcoming the first girls right away - even before the building work was finished.

Chronological development of the project

  • 2018 – Land purchase

Purchase of a plot of land in Anantapur (India), after eviction from previous home

for rent. The investment was made possible thanks to the sacrifices and commitment of Mrs.

Ranjeeta Devi, local promoter of the project.

  • 2019 – Start of work

Construction begins on the first family home to welcome abandoned girls.

Even though the structure was not completed, the girls had to move due to

presented for approximately 18,000 CHF for interior finishing.

  • 2022 – Furnishings and international support

Priority is given to completing the interior furnishings of the rooms. Collaborations are being initiated with other companies.

associations and support from foreign donors.

  • 2023 – Government recommendation for a second facility

Local regulations: mandatory separation of males and females in residential facilities.

Objective: to build a building adjacent to the first one, for abandoned children.

  • 2024 – Progress of the second family home

Construction of the second facility began with funds from various donors. The association

provides support to the extent of its possibilities.
