Sai Deepthi School - India project

Sai Deepthi School, located in Puttaparthi in the Anantapur District of India, welcomes children who are orphans or from families experiencing severe economic hardship. With the support of the Opera San Giuseppe Association, the school provides them with education, nutrition, and emotional support.

A school offering a fresh start

This initiative was born to address the lack of access to education for the most vulnerable children. Today, thanks to a collaboration with Akropolis a.p.s. and the contributions of numerous donors, over 100 students attend the school, with approximately 50 supported directly by our association.

Services provided

• Lessons in English
• Emotional and social education
• A free daily meal under the Narayana Seva programme
• Provision of school supplies and educational support

Main objectives

• Ensuring disadvantaged children have access to education
• Providing adequate and consistent nutrition
• Restoring school facilities damaged by the 2024 floods

The difficulties

• Structural damage to the school caused by a recent flood
• Growing demand for enrolment without commensurate resources
• Limited funds for emergency interventions and ongoing support

Future prospects

• Urgent repair of damaged structures
• School expansion to accommodate more students
• Strengthening the educational model through the integration of moral values

Main challenges

• Limited financial resources to cover both normal operations and extraordinary needs (e.g. floods).
• Increase in the number of applications, which requires greater organisational capacity.
• Urgent structural interventions also needed to ensure the continuity of the educational service.

Future prospects

• Rapid restoration of damaged environments through targeted fundraising.
• Gradual expansion of spaces and resources to accommodate more students.
• Strengthening the educational model, combining language learning and moral values.
• Possibility of replicating initiatives like Narayana Seva in similar contexts.
